Manufacture

Cardboard boxes can consist of several layers. The outer layers provide strength, while the inner layers are designed to optimize volume.

For production, cellulose is divided into fibers and processed into watery pulp. Waste paper is also ground up and cleaned of dirt beforehand. Then the waste paper is decolored so that no more ink can be found and mixed with an aqueous solution. It is then joined to the pulp.

The resulting pulp is placed on a sieve-like conveyor belt. By doing this, the fibers contained in the pulp will orient themselves in the direction of the treadmill. Now different paper webs have been created, which are then pressed onto one another. Since these paper webs are still wet, they have to pass through various rolling and drying cylinders in the next step. Before it is completely dry, a line of lime, binding agent, and fillers is applied so that pictures and labels can be applied to the cardboard. The sieve-like track then runs through the rolling and drying cylinder for the last time. Then the resulting cardboard box can now be cut into individual pieces on the treadmill and stacked on top of one another.
